North Branch

This beloved landmark building, with a beautiful rotunda and arched doorways, has been carefully expanded to keep up with a strong demand for library services. Construction began in 2011 and the Branch reopened in April of 2012. The historically sensitive restoration features:

  • A long-envisioned wing providing a new meeting room and staff area, allowing for better flow around the check-out desk.
  • More room for the teenagers who fill the library on school days.
  • Better noise separation between teens and the adult reading room.
  • Replacement of fixtures and additions added over the years that marred the historic features


    • The Neighborhood Libraries Campaign has funded crucial interior improvements not funded by the bond measure, including:

  • Comfortable seating around the historic fireplace.
  • Refinish of original oak tables and chairs and restoration of many notable features to their intended beauty.
  • Provide new laptop computers for library use.
